What Is Operations Management

Operations is responsible for supplying the product or service of the organization. Operations Managers make decisions regarding the operations function and its connection with other functions. The operations managers plan and control the production system and its interfaces within the organization and with the external environment.

Three points in this definition deserve emphasis:

1) Decisions: Focus on decision making-central theme in operation- four major responsibilities- process, capacity, quality and inventory.

What is Product Line Extension and its Benefits

A product line extension is the use of an established product's brand name for a new item in the same product category. Line Extensions occur when a company introduces additional items in the same product category under the same brand name such as new flavors, forms, colors, added ingredients, package sizes.

What are the Criteria for Choosing Brand Elements?

There are six criteria for choosing brand elements, these are:

1) Easy to memorize: First criteria is memorability, which means a brand name, symbols, logo, visual properties should be different and easy to memorize. Those criteria will help a brand easy to remember. Example: Blue Rhino is a brand, which is easy to memorize.

2) Meaningfulness: Brand meaning should be clear and simple to understand. In the general information category product nature will be explained and in specific information category product benefits and features will be explained.
